MENTONE - Lois E. Paxton Perry, 84, Miller's Merry Manor, Warsaw and formerly of rural Mentone, died at 12:20 a.m. July 17, 2008 at her residence.

She was born Feb. 6, 1924, Marshall County, to Victor and Alice Whiteman Shumaker. She married Hobart Paxton, who passed away Feb. 9, 1975.

She was a homemaker and a lifetime area resident, living on a farm north of Mentone. She also had lived in Bremen. She was a 1943 graduate of Bremen High School. She was a member of the Mentone War Mothers, the Scrambled Egg Band and the Genealogy Society. She loved gardening and genealogy. She enjoyed traveling, over the years she traveled to Mexico, Germany, Florida and Texas. She was a member of the Harrison Center Church and the Kosciusko County Historical Society.

Surviving are two daughters, Betty Dotson, Warsaw and Kathleen (and sposue Keith) Satchwill, Wabash; a son Edward (and significant other Donna) Paxton, Warsaw; four grandchildren: Tim Knight, Andrew Knight, Brent Harmon and Cheryl Reynolds; four great-grandchildren: Joshua Ritter, Alan Reynolds, Kayla Knight and Daniel Knight; a brother, Calvin (and spouse Charlotte) Shumaker, Bremen; three sisters, Vonna Miller, Union, Mich.; LaVera (and spouse Don) Ames, Plymouth, and Diana Hundt, Mishawaka. She was preceded in death by a sister and four brothers.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Harrison Center Church, 965 South CR 800W, Etna Green, with the Rev. Robert Jarboe officiating. Burial will be at Mentone Cemetery.

Calling is from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the church.

King Memorial Home, Mentone, is in charge of arrangements.
