BOURBON - Lois Eileen Monesmith, 81, passed away Jan. 15, 2010, in Grace Village, after losing her battle with cancer.
She was born Oct. 12, 1928, to Lewis and Goldie McKee Danner. On April 25, 1946, she married Donald James Monesmith, who died July 6, 2008, after 62 years of marriage.
She was well known in the area as she and her husband owned and operated Monesmith Catering for many years. She was affectionately referred to as "Mom" by many in her business circle as well as her sons. Her culinary skills, especially her pies, will be missed by the many who knew her. Lovingly devoted to her family, she made all things possible for all of them. She also was a member of the Hoosier Old Wheels car club.
Surviving are two sons, Don R. "Rex" and Mary Lou Stoner Monesmith, Avilla; and Dennis J. Monesmith, Claypool; a brother, Loren (and spouse Betty) Danner, Pierceton; a sister, Dorothy Ritzenthaler, Tippecanoe; two grandchildren, Jeffery R. (and spouse Amy) Cardwell Monesmith, Greenfield; and Jamie L. Monesmith, Anderson; a great-grandchild, Kaitlyn Monesmith, Greenfield; 24 nieces and nephews; and numerous grand-nieces and -nephews. She was preceded in death by four brothers and five sisters.
A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Bourbon.
Calling is from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, Bourbon.
