Of the seven local golfers who started play in the AJGA Stonehenge Open Tuesday morning, two qualifed for today’s third and final round. Jon Schram, a soon-to-be senior at Warsaw Community High School, and Quentyn Carpenter, who will be a senior at Triton, are tied for 40th place with 36-hole scores of 148. Schram shot 1-over 72 Tuesday, followed by a 76 Wednesday. Carpenter followed his first-round 75 with a 73 Wednesday. A total of 108 boys teed off Tuesday, 54 of them made Tuesday’s cut at 150. Warsaw’s Tim Ahlersmeyer (77-74) missed the cut by one stroke. Other WCHS players who missed the cut included Josh Ahlersmeyer (78-75), Jared Essig (78-75), Evan Cultice (81-74) and Ryan Cultice (82-79). J.D. Lehman, of Okatie, S.C., shot a 5-under 66 Wednesday and is tied for first place with Shreveport, La., native Phillip Barbaree, who shot 67 in the second round. Both Lehman and Barbaree were at 137 after 36 holes of play. Nicholas Jan, of Northbrook, Ill., shot 69 Tuesday and was two strokes back when he teed off today. Dublin, Ohio, native Chad Howard, who shot a 66 Tuesday and was the leader after one round, carded a 74 Wednesday and is in a four-way tie for fourth. Of the 36 girls that began play Tuesday, 19 made the cut of 154 for today’s final round. Catherina Li, of Kent, Wash., shot a 66 Tuesday, followed by a 72 in the second round. She holds a one-stroke lead over Madelin Gedeon, of Roseville, Calif., who carded a 72 and 70, respectively, in the first two rounds. Only one girl from Indiana made the cut for today’s final round. Deanna Song, who will be a senior this year at Penn High School, is tied for 13th place with a 36-hole score of 153.
