Bethany Brown Lechlitner’s first novel is also the first in a planned trilogy. “It’s one of many in the future, that’s the plan anyway. That’s what I went to school for anyway,” she stated in an interview Monday afternoon. Her 374-page novel is titled “Entrapment Conspiracy.” The sequels will be “Separation Intrigue” and “Final Treachery.” She’s currently writing “Separation Intrigue.” Lechlitner, 25, Warsaw, who uses Bethany K. Brown as her author name, was born and raised in Warsaw. She was homeschooled, but also attended Taylor University. According to her description, “Entrapment Conspiracy” follows the story of William. He moved to Daisy, Mo., with his parents, where he meets Callie at night. “They hit it off well. He sees her at the start of the school year and she’s completely different. It turns out she has an unknown problem she wants help with,” Lechlitner said. That problem is a curse. And it turns out that Callie isn’t the only person with a curse upon her. Lechlitner said that when she was writing her novel, Daisy, Mo., was supposed to have been a fictional town. However, when she decided to look it up one day, she realized the town really existed. “It was kind of funny on that one,” she said. She first came up with the idea for the book when she was 13, but she wasn’t committed to the idea until two years ago when she realized how much she loves to write. The idea also started out while she was listening to a Leann Rimes song. It got her thinking “outside the box,” she said, and she started asking “what if” questions. “It started out as a story for me to enjoy, but it turned into a story I thought others would enjoy. I’m not really into sappy romance stories. This book has some, but it focuses on the adventure. I loved the challenge of writing from a male’s perspective,” she said. Some guys who have bought the book, she indicated, told her the perspective sounded like it was a guy’s. She also noted the characters have moral standings, which readers don’t see much of anymore in novels. She said their morals, however, are not overwhelming. As for a theme, she said it’s no more profound than good triumphing over evil. The 24-chapter, self-published book can be purchased online at Amazon.com or on Kindle. She’s working on a website for the book, but can be found on Facebook now under Bethany K. Brown or “Entrapment Conspiracy.” Lechlitner said she hopes to have some book signings in the future. Her friend, Erin Bradshaw, designed the book cover, which features a chain holding a sword against a tree. Lechlitner said each of the things on the cover symbolize a character in the book. “I would like to get picked up eventually by a publisher or an agent. I want to sell enough (books) to get more notice. I want to do this as a career,” she said.
