Indiana-American Water Co. President John Eckart has announced the company's acquisition of water utilities in Warsaw, as well as three other Indiana communities.
"The deal will allow us to expand the resources currently available to these communities while continuing and enhancing the high level of service customers are already accustomed to receiving," Eckart said.
This transaction was negotiated with United Water last year and was approved by the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission in December.
As a result of the ownership change, Indiana-American Water Co. Inc. has expanded their customer base to include West Lafayette, Winchester and Mooresville, as well as Warsaw.
The ownership change added approximately 15,500 new customers for Indiana-American Water Co. Inc.
Warsaw residents should notice few changes as a result of the acquisition, Eckart said. Customers should continue to contact the utilities through the same phone numbers they are currently using. Water rates for customers will not be affected as a result of the ownership change, he said.
Indiana-American Water is a subsidiary of the American Water Works Co. Inc.
Indiana-American Water Co. is an investor-owned water utility serving more than 260,000 customers in 35 Indiana cities and towns.
