Clare Baumgardt, Syracuse; Larry Welker, Greenwood; Kathy Ertel, North Vermon; and Sue Back, Indianapolis, are the new volunteer leaders of the Indiana Association of United Ways.
Baumgardt is chair, Welker is vice chair, Back is treasurer and Ertel is secretary of the volunteer lead state organization.
“These volunteers have a record of service to their local United Way and have served on the board of the Indiana Association of United Ways prior to being elected as officers,” according to Roger L. Frick, president. “These volunteers bring the heart of their community to governing statewide service and support.”
Baumgardt has been active with the United Way of Kosciusko County for more than 14 years as a leader for the board and the campaign. She has served as the IaUW Conference chair and a member of the Grants Committee prior to her leadership roles the past three years. She leads the board of 28 individuals nominated by the local United Way and elected by the general membership.
“I am sure that Clare will bring the same outstanding level of commitment to her new role at IaUW as she has to our local United Way. Her passion and leadership will be an incredible asset to the state’s organization,” stated Patricia Coy, executive director at the United Way of Kosciusko County.
IaUW is a member of United Way Worldwide and meets or exceeds all membership and accountability standards for nonprofits. The Indiana Association of United Ways serves 62 members by creating a network community, improving performance and advocating local and statewide initiatives that are advancing the common good. IaUW will administer a $6 million grant program in 2012 and 2013 helping local communities build resources through various development strategies.
