Eight local veterans were honored with quilts Wednesday for their service in the military. Kathy Snell, Liberty Sewing Circle founder, Warsaw, and Quilts Of Valor National Foundation representatives Darlene Seufert and Pam Camren presented quilts made by sewing club members and foundation volunteers to the veterans. A free meal was provided by Grace Village following the presentation at Kosciusko Community Senior Services Activities Center. “Memorial Day is coming up and we wanted to make sure our veterans in the community are treasured and are loved and remembered,” Snell said. “They are the pillars of our country and community.” Along with the quilts, the veterans received certificates of appreciation for their service. Sherman Coy, who was a personal bodyguard for Gen. Douglas MacArthur, was happy to receive the quilt. “I am excited to receive the quilt and very much honored for people wanting to meet me,” Coy said.
