The members of United Steel Union Local 809 from DePuy try and do something community-oriented around the holidays every year.
"We usually try and donate to CCS, United Way or Our Father's House," said Union President Jeff Hooker. "This year we tried to do something different."
Hooker and his wife, Kristy, told the Times-Union Friday that the local union will be supplying fixings for up to 250 families to have a Christmas dinner.
Kristy said that because of the economy and people being laid off, providing Christmas dinners seemed like a good idea.
Each family will receive a five-pound canned ham, a 10-pound bag of potatoes, green beans, two boxes of stuffing, gravy mix and pudding. All the food was donated by union members with their own money without going into union funds.
Families can pick up the fixings Dec. 23 from 4 to 7 p.m. or until supplies last at Midas Automotive, 3555 Commerce Drive, Warsaw.
