Winona Lake resident David Hook was one of 11,500 people chosen to bear the Olympic torch across the U.S. to Salt Lake City on Feb. 8. The torch was lit Nov. 19 in Olympia, Greece. Hook, whose leg was amputated when he was an infant, was granted a special exception allowing him to walk instead of run his two-tenths of a mile portion of the torch's 13,500-mile journey. Hook was nominated by his daughter, Amy Barchini, Syracuse. Photo by Gary Nieter, Times-Union
