Lady Squires Drop Tight Three Rivers Conference Game At Peru
PERU – Trailing by eight after the first quarter, Manchester outscored host Peru 20-6 in the second stanza, but saw the Tigers rally in the second half for a 60-53 Peru win in Three Rivers Conference girls basketball Wednesday night.
The Tigers (11-6, 4-2 TRC) trimmed the Lady Squire lead to two points, 35-33, at the end of the third quarter, then outscored Manchester 27-18 in a wild final period.
Emma Garriott was Manchester’s leading scorer with 18 points, and added five rebounds. Ainsley West had nine points, Makenzy Meyer had six, with Morgan Parrett, Kiera Hatfield and Makenzie Day contributing four points each.
Parrett led the Lady Squires (5-13, 2-4 TRC) with eight rebounds.
“(I was) really proud of our offensive execution from the middle of the first quarter to halftime and our ability to score in the fourth quarter,: said Manchcester head coach Josh Troyer.
“We fave to give credit to Peru, they hit shots when they needed them. We will continue to grow from this defensively and look forward to our county match-up with Wabash on Saturday.”
In the junior varsity game, Olivia Auler had a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds for Manchester in its 32-28 loss to the Tigers. Keilan Creager added six points.
