Ramada Inn of Warsaw, 2519 E. Center St., received two top awards at the national hotel chain's annual convention in Orlando, Fla.: Ramada Plaza Hotel of the Year Award and Ramada Plaza Food and Beverage Service of the Year Award.

Fifteen hundred Ramada delegates attended the annual convention where co-owners and general managers Bruce Shaffner and Steve Shaffner were presented with the awards. These awards were presented by the National Ramada president and chief executive officer, Steven J. Belmonte.

"The Ramada Plaza Hotel of Warsaw is a stellar example of the high quality Plaza Hotel tier," Belmonte said. "Discerning business and leisure travelers who want the very best services and amenities that make a hotel like a home away from home, will find exactly what they're looking for at the Ramada Plaza Hotel in Warsaw."

"It is a tremendous honor," Bruce Shaffner said of the award. This award places the Ramada Plaza Hotel of Warsaw among more than 1,000 properties nationwide. Shaffner said that achieving this level of recognition in the few years that they've been open is a credit to the staff.

"It is very gratifying to be recognized by the Ramada Franchise as the premier property in the country," Steve Shaffner said. "We have committed ourselves to providing quality accommodations and exceptional facilities at a reasonable price."

As well as being named Hotel of the Year, Warsaw's Ramada Plaza Hotel was also awarded first place among all Ramada properties nationally for its food and beverage service.

Warsaw Ramada Plaza Hotel is Indiana's first plaza hotel, as well as the nation's first, in a marketplace of fewer than 100,000 residents.
