WCHS Hosting College Fair, FASFA Help

Warsaw Community High School will host a college fair in the Career Center Gym from 6 to 7:30 p.m Tuesday.

The career fair will include many schools from around Indiana, including IU Bloomington, Ball State University and Purdue University. There will also be a FAFSA help night in room Y176 during the college fair.

For assistance with online FAFSA application, bring your 2017 completed tax information.

Due to ongoing construction in the Career Center, students and parents attending the college night and FAFSA help session should plan to enter the building using the Performing Arts Center entrance or the athletic office entrance (Door 22) behind the school.



WCS Beginning Band To Host Concert

The Warsaw Beginning Band will present “Our First Band Concert: Band Classics” on Tuesday.

Beginning Band students from all elementary schools, Edgewood and Lakeview Middle School will be playing for parents and friends. Students are excited for everyone to hear the progress they have made since the beginning of the school year, according to a news release from Warsaw Community Schools.

“We have a great group of students that are improving every time I see them in class. It is very exciting to see their passion for learning an instrument,” said WCHS Band Director Joseph Peloza.

The Beginning Band students will perform at 7 p.m. in the Lakeview Auditorium. The concert is free of charge and the public is invited to attend.



Akron Lions Fish Fry Planned Saturday

AKRON — The Akron Lions Club will have a fish fry from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Akron Community Center.

Cost is $9 per pound.

The Tippecanoe Valley swim team will have a bake sale at the event.



CCS?Sleepout Sponsorship Registration Closes Tuesday

Sponsorship for the Combined Community Services “Sleep Out” at the courthouse lawn in downtown Warsaw closes Tuesday.

A $1,000 sponsorship places a four-person tent on the lawn, gets an organization’s name or logo on signage on the tent and a link to a web page, name or logo displayed at the event and on event T-shirts.

A two-person tent sponsorship is $500 and includes gets an organization’s name or logo on signage on the tent and a link to a web page.

Burket Food Pantry Open On Wednesday

BURKET — The food pantry at Burket United Methodist Church will be open this week.

Hours are from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday.

The pantry is in the house beside the church. A sign for the pantry is in front of the house.

The pantry will also be open Oct. 24.

The food pantry is part of the Food Bank of Northern Indiana.

Tippcanoe Lake Gates Opening Nov. 1

LEESBURG – The gates at the Tippecanoe control structure will be opened and adjusted to winter water level for Tippecanoe Lake Nov. 1, per state guidelines.

The gates will remain open until April 1, when they will be adjusted for the summer water level of the lake.



AWL Pet Adoption Event Sunday

Coldwell Banker is partnering with Animal Welfare League of Kosciusko County for a pet adoption event from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the AWL, 455 W. CR 250N, Warsaw.

The Underground Hound dog groomer is offering a free first grooming.

Others on hand will be Lake City Animal Clinic, Paws & Claws pet store, Prison Greyhounds, Danielle Neal of Belle Ame Photography taking free pictures from 1 to 4 p.m., and Lawney’s BBQ food truck.

There will be bounce houses for the children.
