COLUMBIA CITY — Northeastern REMC announced two employees, Aaron Wilcoxson and Trevor Fries, have graduated from Indiana Electric Cooperatives’ Rural Electric Apprenticeship Program (REAP) and are now journeyman lineworkers.
REAP is a comprehensive, four-year program that provides professional training for apprentice lineworkers from electric cooperatives across Indiana. Graduates complete 612 hours of classroom-related instruction and more than 8,000 hours of on-the-job training at their home cooperative. Participants also complete four college-level courses through Ivy Tech Community College. Upon completion, graduates earn an Associate of Applied Science degree and a journeyman lineman certificate.
“Reliable systems are built by well-trained people,” said Keith Sievers, vice president of operations at Northeastern REMC. “Programs like REAP are a long-term investment in the skills, safety, and expertise our cooperative depends on every day. Aaron and Trevor’s commitment strengthens our team and positions us well for the future.”
