Local Inmate Caught With Pocketknife

Posted

An inmate in the Kosciusko County Jail was charged with being a prisoner in possession of a dangerous device or material after allegedly being caught with a pocketknife.

Jailers reportedly saw Samuel E. Alvarez, 20, handling a small shiny metallic article and noted that he appeared to be cutting on a toothbrush.

When jail staff approached him and asked him what he had, he denied having any contraband. A jailer located the pocketknife with a 2-1/2-inch blade in the waistband of Alvarez's pants.

He then claimed he found it in a hallway.

The incident occurred about 4 p.m. Monday.
