Kosciusko County Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 149 handed out two $500 scholarships Saturday to local graduates.
The two recipients are Lauren Rogers and Dana Hicks.
Rogers graduated in 2009 from Warsaw Community High School. She is attending Ivy Tech in Warsaw, studying criminal justice.
Rogers said she would like to stay in the Warsaw area and would like to work for the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department when she is finished with school.
Hicks graduated in 2008 from WCHS and is attending University of St. Francis in Fort Wayne. She is in the Nursing School at St. Francis.
Hicks also stated that she would like to return to the Warsaw area to work.
The Kosciusko County FOP scholarship program was started three years ago in remembrance for two locale officers killed in the line of duty.

Jason Beal was assisting a motorist on Ind. 14 in Kosciusko County when he was struck and killed by another motorist in 2000.The funding for the scholarships came from the recent telephone fundraiser the FOP 149 conducted.
