Local firework vendors are gearing up for the July 4 weekend.
David Garrison, Big Boom Fireworks manager, said a customer spent $700 on fireworks Thursday morning for a private party.
He said he expects business to pick up this weekend with the Fourth being Sunday.
Teresa Bubb, Warsaw, spent $100 on fireworks Thursday at Big Boom Fireworks, 3330 Lake City Highway.
"This is the first year I was able to afford fireworks on my own for my son, usually my dad helps out to buy the fireworks," Bubb said.
Big Boom Fireworks is open today, Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Monday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The business is selling raffle tickets at $1 per ticket for a firework raffle for more than $500 in fireworks. The business also is offering buy one, get one free on fireworks.
Customers can register for the drawing today until 5:45 p.m. and the drawing will be at 6 p.m. Those who purchase tickets must be present at the store to win the raffle. One winning raffle ticket will be drawn.

Scott Harrison, Freebie's manager, said the children's fireworks such as sparklers, fountain fireworks and smoke bombs have been selling well, but the business also has fireworks for adults.
Speed Rocket Fireworks, 1017 E. Winona Ave., will be open today through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. and on Monday from noon to 5 p.m.
The firework store is owned by Becky and Steve Watson, Warsaw, and they have been selling fireworks at the location since 2000.
"We look forward to customers who come back year after year and the new customers," Becky said.
Those who use fireworks are reminded of the Indiana Fireworks Law as created by House Bill 1099 in 2006.
The law states fireworks can only be purchased by those 18 years and older. Children are allowed to use fireworks only when an adult is present. Fireworks are only allowed to be used on the user's property, or on the property of someone who has consented to the use of fireworks on the property.
Fireworks may only be used between 9 a.m. and 11 p.m. on days other than holidays. Holidays include Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day and New Year's Eve.
People also are advised to keep their pets indoors to reduce the risk that they will run loose and get injured.
