SYRACUSE – Local couple Denna and Ken Lucas joined nearly 900 colleagues from across the country at the EF Foundation for Foreign Study’s annual conference at Disney World in Orlando, Fla.
The Lukases were among 22 international exchange coordinators who were formally recognized for exceptional performance that exceeded expectations. The weekend, sponsored by EF Foundation, was a celebration of this year’s accomplishments.
The Lukases and their field staff associates placed nearly 3,000 exchange students from 25 countries with host families across the United States.
As coordinators, the Lukases work with EF Foundation’s full-time staff to match international high school exchange students with local host families, enrolling them in high school and providing students, schools and host families with ongoing guidance and support throughout the year-long exchange experience.
“It was so exciting for our family to go to Disney World,” said Denna Lukas, “and to receive an award on top of it made the weekend really memorable. It was a great opportunity to meet up with our colleagues from across the country and celebrate another great year of exchange.”
EF Foundation currently is looking for families to open their homes to an exchange student for the 2012-13 school year.
