Local Consignment Owners See Continued Increase In Sales

Posted
Consignment sales have continued to increase locally with the troubled economy.

The Times-Union reported in an article earlier this month that consignment stores in Kosciusko County are seeing an increase in area residents consigning items. It also was reported there are more people shopping at their stores.Consignment stores in Mentone also are seeing an increase in business.

Time After Time, 107 E. Main St., Mentone, a consignment boutique for women, has seen an increase in consignors and people shopping at the boutique, according to Anna Stiles, owner.

"The number of consignors has increased, and when they come in, they also shop for items," Stiles said.

Time After Time consigns and sells business and office attire, every day casual clothing and scrubs.

Sizes run from zero to 5x. Purses, shoes and accessories also are consigned and sold.

Time After Time has been in business for two years.

Stiles, a single mother of three girls, said she has learned herself to shop conservatively.

She said the consignment store accepts clean, like-new items, and consignors receive 50 percent of the selling price.

"Consignment shops provide an avenue for women to meet their needs and the needs of their families, despite the downturn in the economy," Stiles said.

She said consigning is a great way to get money back on items and save money on items purchased.

Time After Time store hours are Tuesdays through Fridays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.

The Kid's Kloset, 101 N. Franklin St., at the corner of Ind. 19 and Ind. 25 in Mentone, consigns and sells items for children and expectant mothers.

The business has been open for five years and is growing rapidly, according to store owner Krystal Lybarger.

The consignment store consigns and sells infant to junior young ladies size 3-5 and young men to size 34/36. Maternity clothes also are available.

After items are sold, consignors receive 50 percent of the sale. They can either get a check or use their credit to shop in the store.

"Consigning helps families who are struggling with the rising cost of living. We continue to keep our prices reasonable so we are worth the drive into Mentone," Lybarger said.

The Kid's Kloset is open Tuesdays through Fridays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The business is closed Sundays and Mondays.
