Food Bank To Visit Cromwell CROMWELL – The Enchanted Hills Community Partnership Center is pleased to notify Kosciusko County residents and northern Indiana residents that those who are in need of food assistance are invited to attend an area Mobile Food Pantry to be held at our facility this Friday, July 26th, from 10 a.m. to noon in collaboration with the Food Bank of Northern Indiana. The Enchanted Hills Community Partnership Center, 9799 E. Excalibur Place, will host the event in the large outdoor parking lot area that is adjacent to the facility. The facility may also be used as the indoor site for this event as weather conditions may dictate slight changes. The mobile pantry is a first come, first served type of event for those in need. Patrons are asked to bring containers or bags to transport items home. Bowen Center representatives will be on site to answer questions about self sufficiency improvement programs and mental health counseling. CANI representatives will be on site to answer questions about public assistance programs and how to apply.
Tippecanoe Valley To Host Open Swim AKRON – The Tippecanoe Valley High School pool will be open to patrons of the Tippecanoe Valley School Corporation for open swim Wednesday evenings in July (24 and 31) and August (7, 14, 21 and 28) from 6 to 8 p.m. A certified lifeguard will be present; however, swimming instruction will not be provided. To participate in open swim, children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult. Proper swim attire is required. A fee of $2 per swimmer will be collected to cover pool supervision and lifeguard costs.
Moose Bestows Highest Honor on Robinson Glen Robinson, a memeber of Warsaw Lodge No. 1423, Loyal Order of Moose, was summoned to receive the Pilgrim Degree of Merit, the highest honor that can be bestowed upon a member of the Loyal Order of Moose. The conferral was held in the House of God at Mooseheart, Ill. May 23. Members receiving this Degree are entitled to wear a much-coveted gold blazer, which is formally presented to the honoree during a special ceremony attended by other Pilgrims, members of the higher degrees of both the Loyal Order of Moose and Women of he Moose, family, friends, community leaders and other members of the Order. Glen Robinson will receive his blazer at Warsaw Lodge 1423 Sunday, August 25 at 1 p.m. Also present will be leaders of the Indiana Association to offere their congratulations to Brother Robinson. The Moose is an international organization of men and women, dedicated to caring for children and seniors, bringing communities closer together, and celebrating life. Jointly, these members tirelessly volunteer their time and talent to assist people in need and make our communities better places to live and raise families. U.S. 6 Width Restrictions NAPPANEE – The Indiana Department of Transportation announces that width restrictions are now in place on US 6, between CR 56 and CR 15, approximately 2 miles east of Nappanee, during bridge construction over the Wagner Ditch. The lane width is now restricted to 12 feet for permitting purposes. There is signage in place at the intersections of US 6 and SR 19, SR 15, and CR 9, which indicate the distance to the construction limits. The route is closed to transport of mobile homes. This restriction is in effect from Monday, July 22, to approximately September 27. Traffic at the Wagner Ditch bridge is currently controlled by temporary traffic signals. Traffic will be restricted to one lane in alternating directions. The temporary signals will be in place until the project is complete in the fall of 2013. The purpose of the project is to provide continued safety to the traveling public. The project was awarded to Primco based on the low bid of $1.4 million.
