WINONA LAKE - The Kosciusko County Post Offices will close at noon July 3.
The retail counters at all US Postal Service offices will close at noon July 3 to enable retail employees to spend more time with their families.
The last collection for mail deposited in blue collection boxes also will be at noon on that day. All collection points that have a regularly scheduled collection time prior to noon July 3 will be collected as scheduled.
Regular mail delivery for July 3 will be unaffected by the change. Post office box mail access will only be available until noon in those post offices where retail counters and access to post office boxes are co-located and are affected by early retail closing.
"As many businesses close early on July 3," said Dan King, Winona Lake postmaster, "the number of customers visiting our lobbies greatly diminishes. We view this as an opportunity to afford retail employees more time with their families by closing retail operations in most of our locations early on July 3."
Commercial customers are asked to check with their Bulk Mail Acceptance Unit for July 3 hours of operation. To obtain the phone number of a specific Post Office, customers may call 800-ASK-USPS.
There will be normal delivery of mail by city and rural carriers July 3.
Post Office retail counters will be closed July 4 and there will be no mail delivery.
Post Office retail counters will resume regularly scheduled hours of operation July 6.
Holiday Trash Route
In observance of Independence Day, Warsaw city offices will be closed July 3. The July 3 trash route will be picked up July 2. All other routes remain the same. As a reminder, all trash needs to be out by 7 a.m., bagged and placed in a container no larger than 32 gallons with a tight-fitting lid and handles.
