Wawasee Parent-Teacher Conferences

SYRACUSE - Wawasee High School announced parent-teacher conferences are scheduled for Monday from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m.

The arena format will be used with all teachers being in the spectator gym. Administrators and counselors also will be available. Midterm reports will be given to parents at the guidance department table. Parents do not need an appointment and should attend at their convenience.

Students will not be released early from school Monday.

Whitko Parent-Teacher Conferences

SOUTH WHITLEY - Parent-teacher conferences will be at Whitko High School Jan. 14 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the commons area.

Students' current progress reports will be available to parents and/or guardians, and students' teachers will be available.

The guidance department will offer a FAFSA workshop open to everyone, but of special importance to senior parents. The workshop will begin promptly at 6 p.m.

Driver's Ed. Spring Registration Set

Registration for the spring session of drivers education will be Jan. 13-15 from 3 to 6 p.m. in the main office at Warsaw Community High School.

Classroom sessions will run from 3:05 to 5:05 p.m. Monday through Thursday in either February or March. Fridays will be used for makeup sessions due to weather cancellations.

Driving sessions will be scheduled in April and May after school on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, or Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday morning.

The cost is $375 and must be paid in full at registration.

Students must be 15 years old by the time of their driving instruction to be registered at this time. Additional registration times will be held later in the spring for the June and July sessions.

Whitko Has Early Dismissal Friday

PIERCETON - Whitko Community School Corp. will be on a 2-1/2-hour early dismissal Friday for school improvement.

Buses will run 2-1/2 hours early that afternoon.

The purpose of the school improvement day is to provide professional development for teachers and staff.

Redevelopment Commission Elects Officers For 2009

Warsaw Redevelopment Commission Monday elected officers for 2009.

Officers include Ron Yeiter, Richard Snodgrass, Charlie Smith, Tammy Rockey, Savina Kralis and Trish Brown.

Warsaw Mayor Ernie Wiggins swore in Smith as president and Rockey as vice president.

The commission will meet again at noon Feb. 2 at city hall.

County Commissioners Elect Officers

The Kosciusko County Commissioners elected officers and made appointments to several area boards. Commissioner Brad Jackson was sworn in for another term, and Bob Conley and Ron Truex were elected president and vice president respectively.

Karen Boling will serve on the county board of health and Wes Stouder will be the county's representative on the economic development board.

Truex will serve on the economic development board as well as the drainage board and Kosciusko Development Inc. board.
