Scouts in the Lincolnway District of the Anthony Wayne Area Council, in conjunction with Somethin' Funn, Warsaw, have begun a food drive to assist the Salvation Army, Combined Community Services and Our Father's House, all of Warsaw, and Grace Lutheran Church Food Pantry in Columbia City. Somethin' Funn is sponsoring the event, donating wristbands to encourage all Scouts to collect at least 50 non-perishable food items to help those in need. Those wanting to donate to the food drive may contact the Scout council office in Fort Wayne at 800-272-2922 to locate any troop, pack or crew. Cemetery Board Elects Officers
Warsaw Cemetery Board of Regents Thursday elected board members for 2009.
Don Bixel will serve as president, replacing Warren Tatter.
Lewis Dobbins will again serve as vice president; Ellen Hoffer will again serve as secretary; and Tatter will serve as a board member.
There were 16 burials in November 15 lots sold and nine foundations poured. The board signed six burial deeds during the meeting.
The board will meet again Jan. 8 at 5 p.m. at the cemetery building.
No Dead Animals Allowed In Trash
Warsaw Mayor Ernie Wiggins, during Friday's Board of Public Works and Safety meeting, said the city has recently had problems with residents disposing of deer carcasses in residents trash.
Wiggins said the city is not responsible for taking away the deer carcasses or any other animal carcasses that are in residents trash.
Warsaw Police Chief Perry Hunter Friday gave an update on Warsaw's deer-reduction effort. Hunter said there have been 38 deer harvested since Oct. 1 by the hunters participating in this year's deer-reduction effort that ends Jan. 6.
Wayne Township Meeting
The Wayne Township board meeting will be Dec. 23 at 4:30 p.m. at 114 E. Center St.
