Staff Report-
Lakeland Art Association and Maple Leaf Farms have worked together to make local artists’ works available for Maple Leaf’s new corporate offices being completed in Leesburg at the site of the old Leesburg Elementary School.
Maple Leaf Farm’s Sandra Tucker contacted Lakeland Art Association to solicit advice about purchasing art from area artists. LAA President Sue Creighton offered to hold a special showing of LAA members’ work in their gallery in Pierceton and LAA members brought their best work. Maple Leaf Farm’s art selection committee selected 27 paintings and photographs from 12 area artists that fit the decorating theme at their new offices.
The works of the following artists were chosen for the project: Terry Armstrong, Penny French-Deal, Janice Grim, Michael Kimble, Linda Leasure, Joanna Lemler, Judy Marquart, Darla McCammon, Dee Mari Moore, Ann Peperak, Susan Ring and Joyce Kimball Smith.
Tucker said, “There were so many beautiful pieces to choose from that the decision was extremely difficult for our committee. All the artists represented were very talented and we would have liked to have them all.”
Lakeland Art Association exhibits and sells members’ art work in many forms in their Pierceton Gallery. Creighton encourages other businesses or individuals looking for art pieces or quality gifts to visit Lakeland Art Gallery, 107 N. First St., Pierceton, Wednesday through Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The gallery can be reached at 574-594-9950.
LAA’s Fall Members Only Show will be on exhibit from Nov. 2 through Nov. 19. This would be an excellent time to select outstanding art work by Lakeland Art Association members. Awards for the show, judged by internationally acclaimed artist Joe Fettingis, will be presented at the Artist/Donor Reception Nov. 6 at 2 p.m.
