Little Bighorn Announces Closure

Posted
PIERCETON – After 23 years in business, Little Bighorn golf course will begin closing down early next month, owners Dale and Peg Custer said in a message to members this week.
“It is with very sad and heavy hearts that we make the gut-wrenching decision to close Little Bighorn,” the Custers wrote. “Thank you to everyone who has played over the years – both ball and disc golf. We have appreciated your patronage.”
The golf course recently held a promotion to attract membership, which drew hundreds of golfers but, say the Custers, wasn’t enough.
“Unfortunately, it did not generate the interest in memberships for 2015 we needed,” they wrote. “We have struggled ’til the very last moment trying to find a way to keep LBH open. Sadly, bottom line, the golf industry continues to decline and it is just not economically feasible to continue operating.”
The clubhouse will be open every day, except Halloween night, until Nov. 2. After that, depending on weather,  golfers can enjoy the course while Peg Custer is there. Little Bighorn will also begin liquidating its equipment, inventory, carts, disc baskets and merchandise.
The Custers say they plan to focus more on their other business, Superior Landscape products on U.S. 30.
“Hopefully, we can say thank you in person over the next couple weeks as you come in to play,” they wrote. “If not, please stop by at Superior Landscape Products to say hello. We will definitely miss the course and its golfers.”
