Linnea Ruth Elizabeth Swanson, 92, of Grace Village Retirement Community, 337 Grace Village Drive, Winona Lake, passed away at 8:22 a.m. Aug. 22, 2010, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.
She was born Aug. 5, 1918, in Iron Mountain, Mich., to Axel and Freda Jacobson Bloom. On Sept. 3, 1949, in Iron Mountain, she married Leslie Edward Swanson, who died Nov. 24, 2009.
She worked for the Army during World War II in Germany, and she was a homemaker. She was a member of Faith Covenant Church, Farmington Hills, Mich., and attended Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church and Grace Village Chapel at Grace Village Retirement Community, both in Winona Lake, Indiana. She was a resident of Kosciusko County since 2005, moving here from Michigan.
Surviving are four sons: David (and spouse Pam) Swanson, Troy, Mich.; Daniel (and spouse Kathleen) Swanson and James (and spouse Patti) Swanson, all of Warsaw; and Timothy (and spouse Colleen) Swanson, New Hudson, Mich.; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Rose (and spouse Lloyd) Lindman, Mt. Clements, Mich. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Viola Aguilar.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, with the Rev. David Swanson officiating. A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Oak Grove Cemetery, Manistee, Mich.
