Lincoln Students Study Native AmericansThird- and fourth-graders in Jane Zelllers’ gifted and talented class at Lincoln Elementary School have studied Native Americans since October. They studied the various Native American tribes throughout North America, and specific regions’ tribes a little more in depth. They built miniature villages, wrote biographies of specific Indians and created ceremonial masks. The unit culminated Friday with a “powwow,” which included students performing the plays they wrote about their tribes, followed by at feast at noon. Family members attended the powwow to see their students’ work.
