Lillian ‘Peggy’ SevernsMENTONE – Lillian “Peggy” Severns, 79, of rural Mentone, passed surrounded by family at 8:12 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, at her residence.
Peggy was born on Sept. 1, 1943, in Goshen, to the late Dale and Mary Louise Shupert. After her mother’s passing, she was raised by Clyde and Lillian Bowen. She married on Feb. 20, 1961, in Warsaw, to Ronald Edward Severns, he survives.
She worked on the family farm raising hogs, cattle and ducks for Maple Leaf Farms. She also worked for H&R Block and Horizon Transport for many years. Peggy also operated the Pork Producers Stand at the fair for many years.
She is survived by her husband, Ron Severns, of Mentone; children: Debbie Martin, of Peru, Ind.; Chris and husband Brett Yates, of Mentone; Bryan and wife Carol Severns, of Mentone; grandchildren: Cory Mauck, Sara and husband Cody Mann, Brandy and husband Brent Baney, Ashley Bussard, Dustin and wife Storm Severns, Devin and wife Andrea Severns, Shawnee Kintzel; 19 great-grandchildren; and several half siblings survive.
Peg was preceded in death by her parents, great-grandson, Emmitt Severns, as well as several siblings.
The funeral service will take place at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 18 at King Memorial Home, 101 N. Tucker St., Mentone, with Pastor Don Williams officiating. The interment will take place in the Palestine Cemetery, Palestine, following the service. Visitation hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17 at King Memorial Home, Mentone.
