Lillian McConnell, 97, Warsaw, passed away at 2:08 a.m. March 19, 2015, at Presence Sacred Heart Home, Avilla. She was born April 3, 1917, in Pierceton, to Elmer Defoe and Cloe Pearl Stayer Cress. On June 21, 1936, she married Richard McConnell, who died Jan. 9, 1992. She lived most of her life in Warsaw. She was a homemaker and a cook and aid at Alfran Nursing Home, Pierceton and Warsaw. She also worked for Heckaman Bindery, North Manchester. She was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening and helping with chores on the farm and loved to mow her yard. She was a good cook. Surviving are four daughters: Shirley (and spouse George) Polinuk, Laotto; Janet Galbraith, Bella Vista, Ark.; Rosemary (and spouse Gerald) Parker, Columbia City; Cindy Slater, Warsaw; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Raymond “Bud” Cress, Tucson, Ariz. She was also preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters. Services will be at noon Monday at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 E. Sheridan St., Warsaw, with Pastor Brian Koorey, Warsaw Community Church, officiating. Burial is in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Warsaw.
