SYRACUSE - Lillian Evelyn Disher, 87, of 12211 N. Syracuse-Webster Road, died March 29, 2008, in Goshen Hospital.

She was born March 11, 1921, in Benton, to Roy Omar and Katherine Bernice Alwine Wortinger. On Dec. 9, 1939, she married Charles DeWitt Disher, who preceded her in death.

A lifetime area resident, she was a homemaker and worked at many local businesses throughout her life. A 58-year member of Calvary United Methodist Church, she also was in the choir for 50 years; was a member of Calvary's Kitchen Band for 10 years and rhythm band for 25 years, entertaining at Milford Nursing Home; taught nursery school for 20 years; and belonged to the Martha Circle. She was a 1939 New Paris High School graduate.

Surviving are a son, Michael D. (and spouse Angela) Disher, Navarre, Fla.; a daughter, Carolyn S. Disher, Goshen; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Junior Leroy Wortinger, Goshen; and a sister, Jeanette Peartree, Livonia, Mich. She was preceded in death by a daughter.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Calvary United Methodist Church, Syracuse, with the Rev. David B. Herr officiating. Burial will be in Solomon Creek Cemetery, Syracuse.

Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Mishler-Eastlund Funeral Home, Harris Chapel, Syracuse.
