Warsaw Park and Recreation Board heard a request during Tuesday's meeting for lights to be installed on the football field at Fribley Field.

Carl Sowers and Leonard Goble, Young Tiger Football, made the request.

"Since the concession and restroom facility has been built at Fribley Field, more parents have gotten involved with using the field," Sowers said.He said there currently are no lights on Fribley Field. The field is along Market Street.

Sowers said the lights would cost approximately $30,000, including new light poles and lights. He said Young Tiger Football could do fundraising for the lights and requested the board provide funding.

Park Superintendent Jon Garber said the field is in a residential area and suggested Sowers and Goble speak with Warsaw City Planner Jeremy Skinner about installing athletic lighting in a residential area.

Park Board President Bill Baldwin welcomed new park board city council representative Kyle Babcock. Babcock replaces Jeff Grose, who now serves as a council representative on the Oakwood Cemetery Board of Regents.

Park Director Larry Plummer said renovations began Jan. 9 in the interior of Center Lake Pavilion.

He said new ceiling tile was put up in the pavilion and new electrical outlets were installed. Walls were painted and new no smoking and restroom signs were installed in the pavilion.

Plummer said new flooring will be laid in the pavilion with plans to have it laid by next week.
