Posted

Lightning strikes are believed responsible for three fires in the county Tuesday night.

Warsaw Fire Department was called to the Lonnie Witham residence on Lydia Drive shortly after 9 p.m. Light smoke and flames were reportedly showing from a second-floor wall when fire crews arrived.

The homeowners escaped the home without injury and no firefighters were injured while battling the fire.

Damage to the house and contents is estimated at a total of $30,000.

Meanwhile, Sidney Fire Department crews responded to back-to-back fire calls within the 9 o'clock hour, the first on East CR 1150S and the second on CR 600E.

Sidney fire chief Kevin Wagoner said there was minimal damage both at the Adam Craig residence on CR 1150S and the property on CR 600E (the homeowner's name was not available), where a garage door opener and a satellite dish receiver were destroyed.
