Editor, Times-Union: On Monday, Aug. 22, there was an auto accident with injuries on CR 100N in the area of CR 400E. There were two vehicles involved in this accident. One of the vehicles had a baby and her mother in the vehicle, which ended up on it passenger side.
Prior to emergency personal arriving on scene, a bystander by the name of Gene went to the vehicle that was on its side and helped get the baby out of the car seat, which had done its job in keeping the infant safe, and then he made sure someone was holding the infant. Then Gene went back into the vehicle, which, because it was on its side, had the driver still in the driver’s seat and the driver hanging on to stay in place.
Gene, you went in and bent over and raised up to support this young lady and stayed there until we arrived. When I came in to help the injured driver, you stayed and helped me remove her and also helped me splint her injury. Once we had her and her baby in the ambulance and ready to go, you brought to her the diaper bag out of the vehicle and then you told her that you hoped that her and her baby would be OK.
Gene, I don’t know your last name but you went to the aid of a mother and her child and also stayed and helped me with getting her out. You should be given the Hero or Man of the Year award for going and helping when you could have very easily drove on by.
