Renovations to two sections of the Warsaw Community Public Library are near completion according to interim director Joni Brookins, who reported the matter during the Board of Trustees meeting Monday.
Brookins, who is filling in during director Ann Zydek's absence, said the installation of doors would be the last phase of the renovation, which is constructing an office in the youth services area and a work station for computer services.
Completion is expected in the next two weeks.
Brookins also detailed a new community outreach program called "Drop In Zone" which began in January.
The program hopes to encourage teenage participation in the library by providing video game consoles for use, snacks and movie screenings.
"Hopefully we can have teens become interested in other areas of the library as well," Brookins said. "And, from what I heard, the program was a success last month."
In hopes to simplify the expiration dates of non-residential library cards, the board approved a motion to amend current regulations to allow library cards to expire 12 months after their purchase.
The board approved an additional request to inform applicants that automatic data processing will be used for background checks on potential employees.
Business manager Renee Sweeny said the ADP services have been used for numerous years, but the library wanted to make applicants aware of the history checks.
Present members were Brookins, Tony Etienne, Paulette Sauders, Joel Curry, Wendy Kovach, John Yingling and Mark Morrison. Ruth Jones was absent.
