The Warsaw Community Library Board of Trustees approved a new fine and fee structure for 1999 Monday.
The news is good for users who live outside the library taxing district. They will not pay any more to use the Warsaw library in the coming year than the current rate. The annual family fee will be $125 per year and the fee for an individual will be $45. Senior citizen and non-Warsaw school district student rates for a library card will be $20 per year.
Students of Warsaw Community Schools, but not residents of the library district, may also obtain a library card free of charge, according to Ann Zydek, library administrator.
"Under state law, a student card will be issued to any student of the Warsaw schools," she said. "Proof of enrollment from the school administrator, or a Warsaw high school identification card, is required."
Board member Mark Morris said the new fee structure is a good deal for nonresidents.
"Resident taxpayers are still having to carry the burden to pay for the additional capacity to serve the nonresidents, so these rates are very fair," he said.
Overdue fines will remain 10 cents per item per day, except video formats, which will carry $1 per item per day. There will also be a 50-cent charge for videos that must be rewound.
