The Warsaw Community Public Library Board of Trustees approved an $83,956 bid Wednesday to put the finishing touches on the library's renovation.
The bid, submitted by Niblock Inc., one of two bids submitted, was significantly lower than the $113,429 bid submitted by Phend and Brown Inc.
Library director Ann Zydek said the library has sufficient funds to pay for the contract. The work will be paid for from the library's bond fund, the building fund and the library improvement reserve fund.
"We feel comfortable that, from the three funds, we can cover these costs without having to do an additional appropriation," she said.
She added the three funds currently have a combined total of $215,000. But Sprint still has an outstanding balance for installation of communication lines and the church on the library property still needs to be demolished and removed.
Work called for in the bid includes: final construction and paving of the parking lot, removal of an island situated in the proposed parking lot, improvement and moving some of the sidewalks around the building, and improvement of the lighting around the building.
In other business, the board announced it will conduct a public hearing on its 1999 budget proposal at 4 p.m., Aug. 24 at the library.
