The Warsaw Community Public Library board of trustees officially started a new year Monday - with a new slate of officers taking command, the resignation of a longtime member and appointment of a new one.

Former board president Donald Sweatland officially resigned from the board. He will be replaced by Carolyn Nye. The board's officers for 1999 will be Irv Lindemuth, president; Mark Morrison, vice president; Joel Curry, secretary; John Yingling, treasurer; and Ruth Jones, assistant secretary/treasurer.

The board also made the following committee assignments for the board members:

• Nomination committee - Ruth Jones, Mark Morrison, Larry Chamberlain.

• Finance committee - Irv Lindemuth, Joel Curry John Yingling.

• Community/staff relations committee - Ruth Jones, Larry Chamberlain, Carolyn Nye.

• Technology committee - John Yingling, Mark Morrison.

In other business, director Ann Zydek reported that the annual report for 1998 has been filed with the Indiana State Library.

Morrison said the Public Library Access Card Statistics Report shows an interesting trend.

"I'd like to know why patrons from other county libraries check out so many items from our library," he said. "It would be nice to know what they see here so we can use that in attracting our patrons."

The PLAC report shows that 44 Mentone library cardholders checkout 4,804 items in 1998; 14 Milford patrons checked out 1,011 items; and 62 Pierceton patrons checked out 5,283 items.

Zydek also reported the library will be closed March 17 for a staff in-service day.
