Warsaw Community Public Library may close for up to two days soon as a result of expansion work.
The library board, eager to have underground storage tanks removed on the facility's east side, approved a bid for the project Monday.
Dave Carey Excavating, Warsaw, was awarded the bid, estimated to be $16,300.
Carey's bid was the most expensive, but board officials cited the firm's familiarity with the project. Another firm, SCS, bid $12,805 with a string of contingency costs and lacked engineering.
The tanks need to be removed so other aspects of the libary's expansion project can proceed.
The work will likely involve closing one lane on North Detroit Street and temporarily shutting off some utilities.
Since water will be shut off, bathrooms will be unavailable, which will necessitate closing the library.
Removal of the tanks will entail several days of work and could begin this week.
