Girls talk to their dolls, have tea parties with their dolls and love to dress up their dolls.
Whether you have a little girl that plays with American Girl dolls (or any doll) or you collect them, they are fun to dress up and accessorize. These dolls have been around for many years and have brought much joy to those who own them.Warsaw Community Public Library announced an American Girl program to be held April 9 from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for children in grades K-5 in meeting room C. The American Girl program will be a fun-filled day for girls, their friends and families and their favorite dolls.
Activities planned will draw their inspiration from the American Girl doll time periods and book series. Enjoy crafts, a pioneer lunch, learn a dance from days gone by, ending with "Kitt Kittredge: An American Girl" movie.
Come and celebrate the experience of being a girl, whether yesterday or today, through a colorful presentation of historical fashions, games and customs. Learn the stories about the various dolls and the different times and the different ways people have dressed throughout the ages. Discover how clothing has changed over the years to reflect history, culture and girls' individual styles.
Attendees will delight in historical clothing, from daywear to sleepwear to special-occasion clothing, that resembles what the popular American Girl characters Kay, Felicity, Josefina, Addy, Samantha, Kit and Molly might have worn.
Pre-registration is required for the program. There is a limit of 17 openings. Registration begins today and ends April 8 at noon.
Registration can be made online or by going to the children's reference desk. For more information or to sign up for the program, contact Stephanie Hershberger at 574-267-6011 or e-mail shershberger@warsawlibrary.org
