Editor, Times-Union: I would like to congratulate Doug and Jenny Brumfield on an extraordinary Christmas display.
Anyone who has fought with just one strand of lights can appreciate the time and effort involved in your display. You even got mentioned in the Fort Wayne Journal-Gazette paper in a listing of decorations that shouldn't be missed, and yours must be seen to be believed. It truly is wonderful.
However as a parent of a 2- and 3-year-old I have one big problem with the display. Trying to convince my 3-year-old that your home is not the North Pole is proving to be an impossible feat, and he firmly believes that your outbuilding with the flashing red light is where all of the reindeer and Rudolph are living until the big night. He is just begining to understand Santa Claus this year and is beside himself with excitement, so you can imagine the yelling we hear each time we drive by your home. He wants to visit Santa at his house and see the elves working on the toys. So if some evening a 3-year-old should show up asking for Santa, be aware that you will also need to produce reindeer and elves, and good luck trying to convince him otherwise.
So even though you are making my life more difficult this holiday season, thank you for the wonderful display.

Kolbe Letters
Editor, Times-Union: Your letters policy states that you reserve the right "...to limit the number of letters by an individual or on an individual topic." Based on this, have you not published enough letters written by Teresa Petrosky Wallace on David Kolbe?
Now, don't get me wrong. I am not saying she has been published too often. It's just that every letter appears to be on the same topic: How despicable she thinks David Kolbe is. Hasn't your paper given her adequate space to express her opinion on this topic by now?
It would take most people an extraordinary amount of effort to have as low an opinion of anyone as it appears Ms. Wallace has of Mr. Kolbe. And we have heard this opinion over and over again. Can you close this topic now?

Parade Coverage
Editor, Times-Union: I was very disappointed in the Times-Union for not having a write -up or pictures of the Christmas Light Parade in downtown Warsaw Saturday the 13th.
A lot of time and effort was put into this parade. Big advertisements in the paper but not one picture.
Two couples brought their Newfoundland dogs down from Chicago to join the local Newf Troop.
It's a shame that the Times-Union doesn't take an interest in the downtown.

Councilman Comment
Editor, Times-Union: I have just finished reading the front page of Tuesday, Dec. 16, issue of the Times-Union.
I was appalled to see the immaturity of Councilman Lawshe, and he makes the decisions for our city and police department.
I am proud to say that I am an employee for the Warsaw Police Department as a dispatcher for three years now. Chief Allebach has applied for different types of grants for the department to save the city money on training of the officers and to make this city safe. He is on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week. I have seen him work many shifts so one of the patrolmen could have a day off for family reasons or if sick and I have seen him try to calm down officers since Lawshe has been a councilman.
I don't think Councilman Lawshe should have a business in the city limits and be a councilman either; "too much conflict." If I may quote Councilman Lawshe: "No one should have that kind of power in this community - it's too small." Does this include Mayor Wiggins?
Why has it been since Councilman Lawshe has been elected that the council and police department have had so much conflict? I thought the council and police departments were supposed to work together for what is best for this community. Voters, I hope you remember Councilman Lawshe when it is time to elect your councilman again and look at what is being done to your police department.
Chief Allebach, keep up the good work, and I have enjoyed working for you for the past three years.
And to all of the police officers in our department, you do not receive the thanks that you should for a great job that you do to protect this city. Keep up the good work.
Jackie Treft Dispatcher Warsaw Police Department P.S. I would like to have a new councilman under my Christmas tree.
