Editor, Times-Union: I like start with something kinda funny. Did you hear about the man who ran over himself? Well -Êa man and a young boy were walking by the side of the road. When they had walked a while, the man asked the boy to go across the street and buy him some gum. The boy would not go. So the man ran over himself.
My sister-in-law sent me the following: I found this interesting, so I decided to share it with you.
Israel is the nation most often mentioned in the Bible. Iraq is second. However, that is not the mae that is used always. Names used are Babylon, Land of Shinor and Mesopotamia. The word Mesopotamia means between the rivers Tigris and Euphrates. Iraq means country with deep roots. No other nation, except Israel, has more history and prophecy associated it than Iraq.
Something to think about! America is typically represented by an eagle. Saddam should have read up on his Muslim passages. The following verse is from the Koran (9:11) - "For it is written that a son of Arabia would awaken a fearsome eagle. The wrath of the Eagle would be felt throughout lands of Allah and lo, while some of the people trembled in despair still more rejoicced; for the wrath of the eagle cleansed the lands of Allah, and there was peace." Saddam should thank President Bush, but Allah loves uncleanliness. Koran reads, "Murder is good for you, even if you do not like it."
Interestingly: 1. The garden of Eden was in Iraq. 2. Mesopotamia, which is now Iraq, as the cradle of civilization! 3. Noah built the ark in Iraq. 4. The Tower of Babel was in Iraq. 5. Abraham was from Ur, which is in southern Iraq. 6. Isaac's wife Rebekah is from Nahor, which is in Iraq. 7. Jacob met Rachel in Iraq. 8. Jonah preached in Ninevah -Êwhich is in Iraq. 9. Assyria, which is in Iraq, conquered the 10 tribes of Israel. 10. Amos cried out in Iraq! 11. Babylon, which is in Iraq, destroyed Jerusalem. 12. Daniel was in the lion's den in Iraq! 13. The three Hebrew children were in the fire in Iraq. (Jesus had been in Iraq also as the fourth person in the fiery furnace!) Read the third chapter of Daniel. 14. Belshazzor, the King of Babylon saw the "writing on the wall" in Iraq. 15. Nebuchadnezzar, King of Babylon, carried Jews captive into Iraq. 16. Ezekiel preached in Iraq. 17. The wise men were from Iraq. 18. Peter preached in Iraq. 19. The "Empire of Man" described in Revelation is called Babylon, which was a city in Iraq!
Leslie E. Swanson Winona Lake Editor's Note: According to an electronic version of the Koran found here - http://www.hti.umich.edu/k/koran/ - verse 9.11 reads "But if they repent and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate, they are your brethren in faith; and We make the communications clear for a people who know." A search of this Web site for the word "eagle" produced no results.
Move
Editor, Times-Union: Tom, what are we gonna do with you? Obviously, you can't be too smart. It's plain you are really upset with the United States.
Why don't you move out of the country? You don't like it here, all your complaining. Yes, you should definitely move to another country so you can be called an immigrant.
Oh, by the way, thanks for the explanation for "mestizo." I'm part Irish, part Indian, throw in a little hillbilly and maybe a dash of black. Who knows? Anyway, now I know what I am. According to you; I am a "mestizo."
Tom, I am here. That's what I am. I'm here. Get over it. Or better yet, move out of the country.

Reminiscing
Editor, Times-Union: Let's go back a few years and reminisce.
The Bodkin Marina where my dad had his first gas station, also gas pumps at the end of the pier.
How about the lion that rode a surfboard towed behind a wooden Cris Craft motorboat. Bob Haney could tell a tale about the lion.
My grandfather started the Boyer Winona Co. and invented the Winona Fishing Reel, also a metal disposable mouse trap. I have collected 14 reels to date. One chrome on in the original box, still in the wrapping paper.
If anyone knows about my grandfather Charlie Boyer, I would like to hear from them. Call me at 574-269-1019.
I remember when Litchfield Creamery had its open house, all the cups of ice cream you could eat. Several of us kids ran all over the new building including the upper crosswalks.
Dirt track racing at the Warsaw Speedway. Bring your own lawn chair and set it up on the bank. Fresh popcorn or cotton candy.
How about the fair when it was uptown around the courthouse?
One more for now as I figure I'm getting near the 500 word limit.
Free movies in Pierceton every Saturday night. Shown in a burned-out building - the screen was a white painted concrete wall.

Required Reading
Editor, Times-Union: In light of the news Aug. 10 regarding the attempted terror plot in the news, it is more imperative than ever that concerned Americans read two very disturbing books which describe in detail the ultimate crisis which faces America. It is the struggle for the survival of the Judeo-Christian foundation of our way of life.
The first book was published in 2005 by Tony Blankely, editorial page editor of The Washington Times. The title is "The West's Last Chance, Will We Win The Clash Of Civilizations?" The author describes in alarming terms what has and is happening in the Western European nations, and how successful the Islamic radicals are in destroying what little of the Judeo-Christian underpinnings are left in those countries.
The second book is "While Europe Slept, How Radical Islam Is Destroying The West From Within," authored by Bruce Bawer. It needs to be stated that the author is gay. For this reson, he left America thinking he would have more freedom in his lifestyle in countries like France and The Netherlands, but has found out that he was badly mistaken. It is so refreshing to read his regrets now of leaving America. He is afraid at what is coming and writes to warn those who might take action before it is too late. Bawer has conducted extensive research, some of it firsthand, which has increased his fears.
Both voices, Bawer and Blankley, can serve as a call to action, as did those who believed Hitler was serious as to what he planned to do. Unfortunately, in pre-Hitler days, the warnings went unheeded such as Sir winston Churchill's, and World War II resulted. Fortunately, there were resources, both human and material, to end the Third Reich. Will there be resources this time?
Note: Both books can be purchased at Bibles & Books, Warsaw.
