I would like to let you know that I felt your photo on the front page of the accident scene near Atwood was in very poor taste. I can think of no reason whereby any reader needs to see that young man's blood on the roadway! I appreciate our "need to know" and be informed, but I feel that picture was a cheap attempt to sell papers, and in no way educated us, enlightened us, or informed us better than simple headlines could have done. That boy's family has been hurt by your photo, and I think you have done more harm than good.

Utilities
Editor, Times-Union:
This evening the news reported that utilities could be de-regulated. Is this good for the consumer? I say yes if you live on either of the coasts. This will result in higher costs for us, though. Utilities already buy and sell power to each other. The idea of de-regulation will mean that our local utilities will be selling to customers all over the country. If you believe in supply and demand, then you will realize our low-cost power in the midwest will be in high demand on the coasts. This will drive our costs up. We need to watch out. De-regulation is not always the best alternative for the consumer.
