Editor, Times-Union: On Sunday, June 27, there was a public bingo held at the Elks Club in Warsaw. The doors opened at 10 a.m. When we arrived at 10 a.m., we discovered that two-thirds of the tables and chairs were reserved. We were told that the places were being held for the "regulars" - those people who play all weekly and Sunday games. I told them that my money was as good as the rest. Then they said, "We make the rules. You don't!"
This has been going on for several Sundays, but never were so many places saved as on June 27. I feel that they took my right of choosing my own seat. Besides, isn't this discrimination? It's open to the public!
Since we were upset, we left. The laughing followed us all the way out the door. There were only seven players at these tables. The other organizations that hold bingo games do not save seats. The first people there get their choice.
I have a breathing problem. I arrive early at the bingo games so that I can sit as far away as possible from the smoking section. This is impossible to do at the Warsaw Elks.
