MasterWorks

Editor, Times-Union:
Kudos to the Times-Union and all other media who have so eloquently publicized the ongoing music performances by the MasterWorks Festival at the Village at Winona.

During the first week of this four-week session I have heard many splendid performances by the orchestra, faculty recitals, daily student ensembles, a student competition by some really superb performers who are well on the way to becoming future concert soloists and members of major symphony orchestras and chamber music ensembles. Other excellent performances included vocal, dramatic and dance renditions. The participants come from all over the world and are providing us with some really unique contributions in the performing arts medium. The performances are open to the public at no charge! Some of the best music to come to this area is being handed to us on a silver platter. The performances are ongoing until July 20th, still time to get out and support this effort by attending as many performances as possible. Yes, we are all affected by heat, humidity and holiday activity, but if they can do it, we can do it. Some of the best celebrating will be supplied by this group at the July 6 fireworks display in Winona Lake.

This is a community that has always enthusiastically endorsed cultural endeavors, not just in classical music but in art galleries, theater and other areas. Let's prove it to these unique guests by thronging to the wonderful displays of their talents. If you've mislaid the performance schedule listed in the newspaper, call the Village at Winona - 268-9888 - for details.

Come To The Fair

Editor, Times-Union:
I would like to invite everyone visiting the Kosciusko County Fair, to visit the Home and Family Arts. The Extension Homemakers will be hosting demonstrations throughout the week.

Bring your needlework and join in with the quilters Monday, Crochet Circle Tuesday afternoon, Knitting Circle Wednesday evening and Friday afternoon. Also a Counted Cross Stitch Circle will be Friday evening.

Tuesday evening two of our gals will be showing companion planting and flower arranging.

Wednesday afternoon, you will smell the aroma of bread baking.

Saturday, we have a gal coming to show how to spin your own yarn, then weave it or crochet/knit with it.

The Extension Homemakers do so many things. I would like to thank all of them for contributing to our many projects.

Come out to the County Fair and join in all the fun.

Time For A Change

Editor, Times-Union:
What is this world coming to? No Pledge to the U.S. flag! No praying! No thanking God for all that we have! No morals in our USA! Why is our government so afraid to stand up to these single-minded people who think they can pick our constitution apart (which they couldn't do if they didn't take everything out of context). Our children don't know the difference between right and wrong because we are not allowed to teach them. The children are taught in school to tell them if they are given a whipping. Then the parents are made out to be the bad guy. Stop this world, I am getting sick. I would hope that the House and the Senate would stop long enough and see what they are doing to this country. It is time for a change to the way it is supposed to be. Where is all the love, goodness, kindness, no stealing, no drugs, no killing, times have not changed that much.
