Do They Still Teach Driver's Ed?

Editor, Times-Union:
Can anyone out there tell me if they teach driver's education anymore?

The reason I ask that question is because of what happens nearly every single day out on the streets and highways of this area.

Twice on Saturday in 10 minutes I had two drivers pass me in a no-passing zone. The first one was west of Mentone on Ind. 25 by a kid in a green Blazer at about 11:45 a.m. with prefix 43 plates. This idiot finished passing me at the top of a hill and had to swerve back in front of me just in time to keep from hitting an oncoming car. If you think this was your kid, maybe you should explain to them what single and double yellow lines are. I can't tell you if it was a girl or boy driving because they passed me so fast, but I can tell you they had long dark hair. I sure hope he/she made it to their destination without killing anyone.

The second driver passed me on Ind. 331 just north of Ind. 25. Luckily this time there wasn't any cars coming from the other direction. This car had prefix 97 plates. I guess that means other counties do not have a driver's ed classes either.

I might as well say something to some of you drivers out there that might not know that when you have an obstruction in your lane, you need to wait until all of the oncoming traffic has cleared before you pull into the other lane. You do not have the right of way in that situation.

I could list quite a few more things I see out there every single day that are hazards to other drivers, but I am limited to the number of words I can use. Some of them unprintable.

If you have questions on what the laws and rules of the road are, the lincense branch has books that explain everything. I suggest some of you check them out.

We are very sorry for any inconvenience our dining room has caused. We broke our commercial dishwasher and we are on the repair schedule, but it will not be repaired until late Friday. We will be serving on Monday. We have missed you all and are looking forward to serving again soon.
