Mad Dog Mailing

Editor, Times-Union:
A recent letter I had published in the Times-Union concerned the racist remarks made by James Carville, the mad-dog Democrat. Carville called Ken Starr, Bob Barr and Tom DeLay "pygmy idiots" on "Meet the Press." I questioned how Carville could make such comments with impunity!

In today's mail, I received a large, brown envelope, addressed to me with no postmark, and none of the four 33-cent stamps cancelled. No return address and a printed "Photo - do not fold" across the lower left-hand corner of the envelope.

I opened the envelope to find a black and white, 8 x 10 glossy photo of James Carville! Across the upper left hand corner was written: "Don - To my Favorite Pygmy Idiot." Oh, wow! A photo of the mad dog himself!

But, since the photo wasn't signed, I dare not hope it's from the great one!

I conjecture one of Carville's loyal local supporters sent this photo.

Anyone who mails anonymous correspondence is a coward! If you are afraid to sign your name to whatever you mail - you are a coward!

I will keep this photo and after the general election in the year 2000 I will look at it and say, "Carville, you are no longer a 'mad dog.' You are now a 'whipped puppy!'"

Finally, I do thank whomever took the time to locate the photo, address and mail the envelope.

I will use the four uncancelled 33-cent stamps to mail "Letters to the Editor" and will sign my name - as usual.

Schanbachers Say Thanks

Editor, Times-Union:
We are happy to report that Cory is doing well as a result of his heart surgery at Mayo Clinic April 7.

A big THANKS to all who contributed through the jars in places of business! We appreciate them accommodating us.

Trinity United Methodist Church had a bake sale and many individuals contributed financially . May 16, the Trinity teens sponsored a car wash. Our families and friends from several locations helped.

We are also truly grateful for prayers and emotional support from many.

The family of Cory Schanbacher, Warsaw

Prom Dinner

Editor, Times-Union:
This past Saturday night was prom night for Warsaw Community Schools. Prior to going, we ate a nice dinner at the Viewpoint restaurant. After eating we asked for the bill, only to find out that our meal had been paid for by someone else. At first we thought maybe a family member had made prior arrangements, but found out that was not the case.

Whoever it was, we would like to publicly thank you for your generosity and random act of kindness. We will always remember these actions and would like you to know that was the beginning of a very wonderful evening. Thank you so much.

Thallemer Says Thanks

Editor, Times-Union:
As a newcomer running for public office, I felt the recent primary election was a very rewarding experience. I wish to thank everyone who supported me as the Republican nominee for Warsaw City Council At Large.

Despite the "expected" low turnout in an off-year local election, I was very gratified to learn that many high school students voted for the first time and were very excited about it.

With two races decided by less than 10 votes, I think it is safe to say that the high school voters directly impacted the way the City of Warsaw will be run for the next four years.

How proud we should be that these students exercised their voting rights.

If you are not registered or have changed your address, please do so by visiting the County Clerks Office, City Building or Bureau of Motor Vehicles. It's very quick and easy.

All who vote in November will directly affect city government. Those who don't think their vote counts should consider the impact our high school students made in the May primary.

Joe Thallemer, Warsaw
