Editor, Times-Union: I would like you to ask you one question. In your letter you said Vietnam had nothing to with our freedom, but I disagree with you. That war had everything to with our freedom. It was after this war that our servicemen and -women were spit on by Americans and for what. These people took an oath to defend the Constitution and obey the president. By obeying this oath they are defending our freedoms.
With the reasoning that you use, we could not have justified going to war with Germany during the second world war. Germany did not attack us. Where did Germany threaten our freedom? I believe the second world war was justified. Just think ,when Hitler was weak, if the world spoke out against him would he have gained power?
Saddam Hussein is evil. Even Jesus said that there would be wars and sometimes we have to fight to stop it. The Old Testament is filled with the times the Jews fought for their freedom. Saddam tortures his people. Saddam starves his people. Saddam enslaves his people. Why can we not stop him? What U.N. resolution convinced him to be a good boy?
MSNBC reported that Saddam's son has an Olympic training center and if the athletes don't perform, they are tortured and executed.
What has Saddam done to attack our freedom? He has funded terrorism. Saddam has paid the suicide bombers' families for carrying out their deadly attack. Why don't you negotiate with him and see if you can convince him to change his mind.
As for the French, two times in the last century have the French not fought for their freedom. And two times did the Americans come and save them. I thank the French for their help during the Revolutionary War and the Statue of Liberty, but I still remember the 165,000 servicemen and -women who died for France. France has spit on their graves..
God bless America. And by the way, I believe in God the Father also.

Teachers
Editor, Times-Union: You say Warsaw teachers get $44,800 per school year. Forty-four thousand, eight hundred dollars divided by 182 school days per year is $246 per day. If a teacher spends eight hours per day, that is $30.50 per hour.
With our economy, we cannot pay more. A teacher teaches because they want to teach. If they want more than $30 per hour, let them take that job that pays more.
