Will Of The People?

Editor, Times-Union:
At this moment, I am almost speechless. I was educated to believe in the American way. I actually got A's in Government all the way through college. I actually believed that the will of the majority would prevail over self-interest.

Monday night, I attended a Board of Zoning Appeals meeting, along with nearly 100 other Rolling Hills residents, in opposition to a zoning variance requested by LRC Products Inc. for an industrial business to encroach into a residential neighborhood.

It is in direct conflict with established zoning laws, and opposed by Rolling Hills residents because of potential property devaluation.

In spite of the obvious, the request was granted. So much for the will of the people.

P.S. I would like to offer my home for sale to Mr. Keeven, Mr. Woodward, Mr. Clingan and Mr. Hampton. You all seem to believe the trees planted by LRC will make everything all right.

Thanks To Hospice

Editor, Times-Union:
In October 1999 my mother, Alberta Snyder, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. She left her home in Florida to stay with my husband and I at our home in Warsaw. The doctors predicted she would have four to six months to live. It was the desire of mom and the family for her to be able to stay in our home until her death. We were put in touch with Kosciusko County Hospice. With their help we were able to do just that. The Hospice personnel (the volunteer, the aides, the chaplain and the nurses) were always there when we needed them, regardless of the time of day or night. Mom was always cared for in a tender, loving and compassionate way. Hospice was such a great support for the family. Mom's illness and its progression was consistently explained to us. Hospice worked with the caregivers seeing that appropriate medications were given. Mom died peacefully Dec. 30, 1999, in that special room of our home with members of her family and the pastor at her side, as she wanted it to be. There is no way that we can sufficiently thank Hospice for the care they gave to mom and to the family. They are truly a wonderful organization and are to be commended for the work that they do. Thank you Hospice and God bless you.
