I just finished mulling over what Ms. Coulter brought forth in her column in Friday's Times-Union. I feel two areas need more clarity so here goes.
Area #1
Left vs. Right, Libs vs. Conservs, Atheists vs. Bible- thumpers.
No day can pass that the media sources deem worthy enough to ignore this ongoing futile debate.
The very people who brought us the P.C. Principle (You know. That's when you generalize a segment of society or denigrate a segment of society, thereby discounting their individual talents and intelligence and worth to the society.) These very self proclaimed highly educated, enlightened folk lump all the people to the left of the imaginary center-line and all people on the right are lumped together also making every debate or discussion or difference of opinion handicapped by politics. Liberals vs. Conservatives.
From now on let's be different. Let's use our own brains and logic and come up with solutions based on facts and ideas and insights rather than any politics. Mild or heated, let our discussions emanate from a mutual want for solutions that help our families, communities and our country. God bless America, all of us!
Area #2
Guns vs. No Guns.
Law? No Law? Let's let logic prevail. If laws would make it right, we would not have had any of the disasters that were in Coulter's column or the twin towers tragedies or any other law-breaking activity, because we already have laws on the books against killing, especially innocent people.
Outlawing anything only has a chance with law-abiding citizens, because law breakers will laugh at any new laws just as they do now. I know that I want my neighborhood to have protection from law-breakers other than police protection because the police cannot be everywhere all the time and when they can't we can still protect ourselves now! Let's not let that be taken away, ever!
