PIERCETON - Lester Bays, 77, of 5268 E. Van Ness Road, Pierceton, died at 2:31 p.m. April 13, 2009, in Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.
He was born Dec. 1, 1931, in Floyd County, Ky., to Asa and Bertha Marshall Bays. On April 12, 1951, in Warsaw, he married Geraldine L. Zorn, who preceded him in death.
Living most of his life in Kosciusko County, he was a self-employed auctioneer and a member of Freewill Baptist Church.
Surviving are three daughters, Brenda (and spouse Don) Beck and Glenda (and spouse Ben) Michael, all from Pierceton, and Lorrie (and spouse Steve) Patrick, Claypool; four sons, Rodney Bays, Ricky (and spouse Martha) Bays and Rocky Bays, all of Pierceton, and Roger Bays, Ocala, Fla.; 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Pierceton, with Pastor Sam Carns officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
