The Indiana Nonprofit Resource Network, Kosciusko County Community Foundation and United Way Elkhart County will hold informational sessions at the community foundation Oct. 11.
“The Cure for the Special Events Bug & Charity Gaming: What You Need To Know” will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Registration is $50 and the registration deadline is Oct. 8.
The Kosciusko County Community Foundation is located at 102 E. Market St., Warsaw.
Morning Session: Ever feel like your organization is infected with the special events bug? While there is certainly a place for events in a diverse fundraising program, most organizations rely too heavily on events and fail to maximize the opportunities that events offer.
Often cited as a major reason for board member and development staff burn-out, events are one of the most abused, misused and addictive forms of fundraising.
Nick Parkevich of Loring, Sternberg & Associates will give you strategies for making the most of your events by establishing a process before your event and developing strategies for increasing board engagement in developing donor relationships after your event.
Afternoon Session: Many nonprofits tie charity gaming (raffles & prize drawings) to their special event. Are you keeping your organization safe by adhering to all of the charity gaming regulations? In this session we will hear from Charity Gaming Division Deputy Director Larry Delaney who will review the basics of charity gaming, what is legal and what is not. He will discuss how to qualify, how to apply for licenses, how to properly conduct the gaming and how to complete the financial reporting process.
